Invited on a press trip by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitvalsugana.it\/en\/\">Valsugana<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alpecimbra.it\/en\/alpe-cimbra\/1-0.html\">Alpe Cimbra<\/a>, we dove into a region that many people still don\u2019t have on their radar \u2013 and quite unfairly so.<\/p><p data-start=\"417\" data-end=\"837\">At first, we thought we were still in South Tyrol. But as the locals explained to us, South Tyrol ends in Bolzano. After that begins a Trentino that speaks German, is historically connected to Austria \u2013 and is a real hidden gem for travelers. It\u2019s nothing like the bustling Lake Garda. Instead: peaceful lakes with top water quality, authentic towns, artistic forests, and plenty of hiking and cycling trails to explore.<\/p><p><strong>Four Days, Countless Impressions \u2013 What We Experienced<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Cycling Along the Brenta: Active in Valsugana<\/strong><\/p><p>We kicked things off actively: with a bike tour along the 80-kilometer Valsugana cycle path from Levico Terme to Borgo Valsugana \u2013 smooth, flat, and perfect for families and leisure cyclists. The route passes through charming villages, always accompanied by the Brenta River. Thanks to bike-sharing and the option to bring bikes on the train, the logistics are relaxed and flexible.<\/p><p>\ud83d\udc49\u202f<strong data-start=\"1349\" data-end=\"1357\">Tip:<\/strong> Bikes &amp; e-bikes can be rented easily everywhere. More info: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitvalsugana.it\/en\/discover-valsugana\/sport\/bike\/\">Bike | Sport \u2013 APT Valsugana<\/a><\/p><p><strong>Art in Nature: Arte Sella and VAIA Artworks<\/strong><\/p><p data-start=\"1506\" data-end=\"1806\">One of the highlights: <a href=\"https:\/\/artesella.it\/\">Arte Sella in Val di Sella<\/a> \u2013 an art park in the forest filled with large-scale sculptures made from natural materials. Since 1986, new artworks are created here every year. The \u201cCattedrale Vegetale\u201d by Giuliano Mauri has become a world-famous symbol of impermanence and growth.<\/p><p data-start=\"1808\" data-end=\"2013\">Also impressive: the VAIA artworks, created in the aftermath of the devastating 2018 storm. Sculptures like the she-wolf, the eagle, and the griffin powerfully combine mythology, nature, and craftsmanship.<\/p><p><strong>Crystal-Clear Lakes &amp; Peaceful Relaxation<\/strong><\/p><p>Swimming, boating, fishing \u2013 Trentino is home to beautiful lakes, all certified with excellent water quality (Blue Flag):<\/p><ul><li data-start=\"2194\" data-end=\"2300\"><p data-start=\"2196\" data-end=\"2300\"><strong data-start=\"2196\" data-end=\"2215\">Lake Caldonazzo<\/strong>: The largest lake in Trentino, ideal for water sports and dog lovers (dog beaches!).<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2301\" data-end=\"2395\"><p data-start=\"2303\" data-end=\"2395\"><strong data-start=\"2303\" data-end=\"2318\">Lake Levico<\/strong>: Quieter, more family-friendly, with lovely playgrounds and lakeside hotels.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"2396\" data-end=\"2573\"><p data-start=\"2398\" data-end=\"2573\"><strong data-start=\"2398\" data-end=\"2429\">Lake Lavarone (Alpe Cimbra)<\/strong>: A picturesque mountain lake at 1,100 meters \u2013 perfect for unwinding, hiking, and swimming. Even Sigmund Freud enjoyed his summer retreat here.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Artistic Villages &amp; Historic Fortresses<\/strong><\/p><p data-start=\"2629\" data-end=\"2842\">La Guardia \u2013 the painted village \u2013 completely enchanted us. Its houses tell stories through murals: scenes from rural life, legends, and nature. A walk here feels like flipping through the pages of a picture book.<\/p><p data-start=\"2844\" data-end=\"3073\">We got hands-on with history at <strong data-start=\"2876\" data-end=\"2903\">Forte Dosso delle Somme<\/strong> (a scenic hike!) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basetuono.it\/en\/\"><strong data-start=\"2925\" data-end=\"2939\">Base Tuono<\/strong><\/a>, a former NATO missile base now turned open-air museum. Seated under overgrown tree vines, surrounded by nature and art, we enjoyed seasonal dishes that brought the \u201cLand Art\u201d concept onto our plates. An atmosphere where cuisine, art, and landscape blend into something unforgettable.<\/p><p data-start=\"4011\" data-end=\"4235\">And for those seeking something extra special: <strong data-start=\"4058\" data-end=\"4076\">Castel Pergine<\/strong> isn\u2019t just a place to dine \u2013 you can stay overnight in style, overlooking the Valsugana Valley, completely unplugged from the digital world but full of charm.<\/p><p data-start=\"4237\" data-end=\"4430\">Valsugana also offers a lovely idea for sustainability fans: symbolically adopt a cow! Part of the dairy products go to you, and part to social projects. It doesn\u2019t get more regional than that.<\/p><p data-start=\"4437\" data-end=\"4479\"><strong>Day Trips: Verona, Venice &amp; Bassano<\/strong><\/p><p data-start=\"4481\" data-end=\"4554\">In the mood for a touch of city flair? It was like a deep breath \u2013 filled with discoveries, connections, nature, and art.<\/p><p data-start=\"4954\" data-end=\"5112\">Trentino \u2013 and especially Valsugana &amp; Alpe Cimbra \u2013 truly captivated us. Here, history speaks softly, nature is powerful, and the people are wonderfully warm.<\/p><p data-start=\"5114\" data-end=\"5156\">We\u2019ll definitely be back.
